Objective: Funding for Tribal Aging Offices, which understand the individual needs of their communities, for direct respite care for primary caregivers. The likelihood of Native American primary caregivers accessing respite care increases when they can self-direct the respite care provider of their choice. Connections and trust between these communities and DHS/RCAW can be built throughout the state.
Purpose: To meet people where they are and understand the individual needs of different communities. This idea follows the First Principles: Cross-Cutting Considerations for Family Caregiver Support. This project places the family and person at the center of all interactions and advances equity, accessibility, and inclusion for family caregivers in underserved communities to receive direct respite care.
