Our mission isto promote, support, and expand quality statewide respite care across the lifespan. One of the ways we meet our organization’s vision and mission is by providing free training opportunities for those who want to become independent respite care providers, individuals who wish to start respite care programs in their community, as well as for primary/unpaid caregivers. We also provide unique ways for individuals who have completed the Respite Care Provider Training (also available in Spanish) and are listed on the Wisconsin Respite Care Registry to receive continuing education opportunities. There are so many wonderful benefits to providing respite care, and we invite you to browse our course catalog and find an opportunity that fits you best.
The Respite Care Provider Training (RCPT) is a series of free courses for anyone interested in providing respite care as a career, a part-time job, or even a volunteer activity to individuals with varying disabilities and ages. Learners can work at their own pace to complete the ten required online courses, stopping and starting as needed.
When you have finished the RCPT, you’ll receive a certificate of completion for seven hours. You will be offered the opportunity to be added to the Wisconsin Respite Care Registry, available to primary caregivers to search for respite care providers in their community.
RCAW’s mission is to promote, support, and expand quality statewide respite care across the lifespan. Continued waitlists for Bringing Respite to Your Community (BRYC) prevented us from implementing our mission. For that reason, RCAW has modified the format of this workshop. Instead of virtual face-to-face training, BRYC is now entirely online. This format allows open enrollment and provides support and education to the participants. RCAW covers the cost of continuing education courses, using partnerships with subject matter experts on various topics for individuals who have completed the Respite Care Provider Training or Bringing Respite to Your Community. These courses are online.
